The Author of the Core Curriculum
Dave Balmer has been a long-term member of the Elevator and Accessibility Lift Industry, starting with a small local service and repair contractor in Toronto, Ontario in April of 1958.  In 1971, he joined a construction elevator equipment firm.  He later formed Concord Elevator as a division of this construction equipment company in 1974.  Dave retired from Concord Elevator in September 2001 but is still active in the industry as a code, safety and education consultant.  As the AEMA advocate, among other duties, Dave is actively engaged with NAEC and Elevator World to create and prepare the CAT™ (Certified Accessibility and Private Residence Lift Technician) Training Program.

The Publisher
With over 50 years in the field, Elevator World has had a key role in the education and transfer of knowledge with vendors, employers and organizations in the elevator industry. Elevator World is the largest publisher devoted to the elevator industry, publishing a monthly journal; compiling The Elevator World Source, the most inclusive directory in the industry; publishing numerous books used for industry education; and updating and maintaining Elenet, a biweekly e-mail newsletter. Elevator World is an integral partner in the development of the CET™ Program and will provide bookstore services for the students.

Development Assistance
AEMA is a non-profit organization formed in 1990 to meet the needs of the accessibility equipment manufacturers, distributors and end users.  Comprised of manufacturer and associate members, AEMA is dedicated to promoting the awareness, understanding and acceptance of accessibility equipment to code and regulatory officials, government agencies, architects, building owners, and end users.
